Launceston Town Band as you would imagine, takes it's name from the Town of Launceston, situated on the northern border between Devon and Cornwall whose division is made by the River Tamar. In times past Launceston was regarded as the Ancient Capital of Cornwall.
The Historic Castle which sits proudly high above the town has some impressive grounds that are sometimes used as a venue for outdoor events at various times of the year.
Launceston Town Band are a friendly group of brass musicians who rehearse weekly in preparation for concerts, contests, civic duties and anywhere we are invited to play.
We enjoy contesting and are placed in the 3rd section nationally. Our Solo & Quartet Contest is in its 3rd year and attracts entries from all over Cornwall and beyond.
